BRCSD Model Overview

The BRCSD has children and youth at the centre with the support of community, family, health, and school. The supports go out to School Linked and Regional Linked services and back in towards the child/youth. All supports range from Universal to Complex, building capacity for all involved through the process. The teams involved in providing support within the BRCSD Service Delivery model include:

  • School Based Team
  • School Linked Team
  • Regional Linked Team
  • Tri-Region Complex Needs integrated case team

Building Capacity

An integral part of the BRCSD service delivery approach is ongoing learning by all participants in the process, through multiple strategies and interactions such as collaboration (working together, meetings, planning), workshops, communities of practice, etc. to continually strengthen our capacity to support children and youth.

Key Benefits of the Service Delivery Model

  • The provision of a continuum of supports and services, means that in most cases we begin with whole classroom and/or school strategies (Universal) and move to more involved services (Targeted and Individualized) as determined by the team
  • The approach will support all students in the school regardless of age and diagnosis. All children benefit from the provision of Universal supports and strategies
  • A collaborative, solution focused approach results in intervention first, rather than an assessment
  • Ease of access to integrated and coordinated supports for children and youth
  • Ongoing communication and collaboration between teachers, parents and school linked and regional linked team members
  • Shared responsibility and accountability for student success

Supporting children and youth to be successful at school, at home and in their communities.
